IF you’re all too familiar with your clothes getting ruined in the washing machine, you might just be looping them round the drum too often.
It turns out that we don’t have to wash our clothes as often as we think – particularly jeans.
According to a guide by Which?, washing certain things less often will leave you with enviably clean clothes that need replacing less often.
Of course, underwear, socks, swimwear and workout gear need to be washed after every wear.
But you can actually get ten wears out of your jeans before washing them.
Washing your clothes less has a tonne of perks – such as maintaining their condition and saving energy and water on using the washing machine less.
According to the experts, bras need to be washed every two to three wears.
T-shirts should be washed at least every second wear, but you can get up to six wears out of a sweatshirt before sticking it in the laundry basket.
Surprisingly, the experts stated that you can get up to four wears out of your pyjamas before they need a wash.
Skirts can get you seven wears before they need a wash, while dresses you can stretch to three.

A good rule of thumb is that if it doesn’t touch your private areas or armpits, an item of clothing is likely to stay fresher for longer.
That’s why you only need to wash your coat one to two times each winter.
The same applies to hats and gloves which only need two to three washes every season.
If you’re unsure, a ‘sniff test’ won’t harm to help you decide if it’s time to make something soapy.
