IN just a few days Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will become parents and royal watches are speculating about possible names for the new royal baby – we don't even know if it's a boy or a girl.

The announcement of Meghan's pregnancy was exciting news for the whole world, but what names do the couple have up their sleeve?

Per royal protocol, the Queen reportedly has to be the first to know of the birth and the name of the child, however, both Prince Harry, 34, and Meghan, 37, are free to choose their own name.

How did Kensington Palace announce Prince Harry's first child?

Kensington Palace announced the news on its official Twitter page.

The message read: "Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the spring of 2019.

"Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public."

Meghan Markle’s mum Doria Ragland then released a statement through Kensington Palace saying she was "very happy" and "looking forward to welcoming her first grandchild".

When asked if Meghan's dad Thomas had been made aware of the news the Palace responded with "no comment."

When did Harry and Meghan get married?

The couple tied the knot on May 19, 2018, less than two years after they first announced they were together in November 2016.

The wedding took place at St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle and was attended by A-list stars and watched around the world.
