Meghan Markle is a big fan of M&S – and experts believe they know the reason why

Take Meghan Markle, for example. When she wore Marks and Spencer's wool blend jumper on a trip to Brixton in January – we had to have it.

And it seemed the rest of the country did, too – the piece sold out within hours.

But why does the Duchess of Sussex wear brands like M&S when just weeks before she dressed in a Ralph & Russo couture gown (priced at £56,000) for her and Harry's engagement photos?

According to celebrity stylist Rochelle White, wearing an accessible brand is the perfect way for Meghan, 36, to be approachable.

"Being seen wearing a brand that everyone can pretty much buy is a great way for her be relatable," Rochelle told the MailOnline.

"M&S is a quintessential British brand, it is iconic.

"I think Megan is really trying to embrace her new surroundings and be seen in British Brands to show that she's open to new things."

And while Meghan has hinted that designer Givenchy is one of her new favourites (the 36-year-old wore their designs on three different occasions in four weeks – one being her wedding day) she recently paired a £3,992 Oscar De La Renta dress with an M&S fascinator – available for less than £30.

"So it's no surprise that the Duchess Of Sussex is having a fan girl moment," JP tells the MailOnline.

While Meghan is fond of the brand, it seems the feeling is mutual.

To celebrate The Royal Wedding last month, M&S temporarily changed their name to "Markle and Sparkle" for three days.
