Meghan Markle LATEST – 'Queen should have been told about Oprah' claims royal expert as Harry 'upset' over losing titles

PRINCE Harry and Meghan Markle should have told the Queen about their 'explosive' interview with Oprah Winfrey, a royal expert has claimed.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have agreed to a 'tell-all' interview with America's biggest celebrity interviewer, just weeks before the couple's Megxit review is due.

Appearing on Lorraine, royal editor Russell Myers, said: “If you're going to set off a nuclear bomb like this, doing a huge interview which will no doubt garner attention across global networks, the decent thing to do would be to tell the Queen, tell your granny you're going to do it,” the Daily Mail reported.

Russell continued: “It's absolutely horrifying news, I would say, for the royal family. The very fact Oprah has been given carte blanche to ask anything, will be making the royal family very, very nervous indeed.

“It's a funny change of tact when you have been complaining about privacy and intense media scrutiny, to sign up with potentially the chat show queen of the world, to be streamed to millions and millions of people.”

The hypocrisy of the privacy-loving couple signing up for a the 90 minute special, which airs on US TV next month, could prove too much for the Palace to bear and they may now be stripped of all their royal patronages – including Harry's three beloved military titles.

Buckingham Palace would not comment on the couple's Oprah interview.

Meghan Markle’s explosive tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey has reportedly been in the works for three years as they played “a long game”.

The Duchess’s decision to open up publicly came after a ‘three-year courtship by the chatshow host,’ The Times reports.

Oprah, 67, came into Meghan’s life in early 2018, having reportedly got in touch through the US TV network, CBS.

Oprah said she was happy to offer the Duchess friendship and guidance.

HARRY 'UPSET' ABOUT POSSIBLY LOSING PATRONAGES

Prince Harry is set to lose his honorary military titles and patronages amid concerns that TV bosses could use them to promote his Netflix documentaries and US talk shows.

This week he was said to be “upset” at the move after vowing to fight for them earlier this month.

Harry and Meghan have been told Oprah can “ask anything she wants” during the “intimate” 90-minute chat scheduled for March 7.

The Queen is said to have every faith Harry and Meghan will honour royal protocol during the TV interview, the Daily Mail reports.

A former pal of the Duke said: “There is no secret that Americans love a Brit in army uniform. Harry is far more marketable pictured with his Army uniform at events in the UK than as a bloke in a shirt and chinos.”

COUPLE COULD LOSE FINAL ROYAL PATRONAGES

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex could now lose their royal patronages following the announcement that they are to appear in a bombshell 90-minute special on US TV.

It is believed the Queen will ask them give up their links with organisations passed down through the Royal Family, reports the Daily Mail.

If asked by the Queen to relinquish such links, it would see Harry, 36, stripped of his three remaining honorary military titles.

It could potentially even mean he would have to give up his patronages with the Rugby Football Union, Rugby Football League, and the London Marathon.

For Meghan, 39, it would mean stepping down as a patron of the National Theatre, a role she was given in 2019 after being held by the Queen for 45 years.

MEGHAN'S SIS BLASTS HER FOR 'ISOLATING FAMILY'

Meghan Markle's half-sister has today blasted the Duchess for "isolating the entire family" – saying it's "only humane" to make things right.

Speaking to Australian morning programme Sunrise, the American said: "I'm hoping that she will resolve things with our father, because it's only called for. That needs to be repaired."

Meghan has not spoken to Thomas since before her marriage to the Prince in May 2018 – with the 71-year-old today revealing he still had not met baby Archie after it was revealed Meghan was pregnant again.

He most recently said he would be willing to give evidence against his daughter after she launched – and won – a High Court privacy case after a British newspaper reprinted extracts a letter she sent him.

    ROYAL TRUST

The Queen is putting her faith in Prince Harry and Meghan Markle that they won't damage the Royal Family in their upcoming interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Royal sources have today said Meghan and Harry will not say anything that undermines the Queen.

Veteran royal watcher Joe Little, managing editor of Majesty magazine, told the Express: "The Queen will put faith in the loyalty of her grandson and the fact that he will always be a member of the Royal Family and, she will hope, won't want to damage the monarchy."

He added: "This isn't going to be an unscripted interview. It's going to be carefully thought out and choreographed. But looking at the history of royal interviews, you just wonder if this will trip them."

'NO WAY BACK TO ROYAL DUTIES' FOR MEGHAN AND HARRY

Harry and Meghan Markle now have “no way back to official royal duties”, royal sources claim.

It comes after the pair agreed to an explosive tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey.

It is unknown whether the couple would have to forfeit their link with the Commonwealth, but sources suggest they would be forced to give this too, according to the Mail.

One source described the interview to the outlet as “one of the most inevitable and, sadly, predictable consequences” of Megxit.

ROW ERUPTS ON LOOSE WOMEN OVER MEGHAN INTERVIEW

In the announcement that has divided the country, it appears the Loose Women stars are also split over Harry and Meghan's upcoming interview with Oprah Winfrey.

For the Loose Women discussing the issue on yesterday's show, each of the panellists had their own strong points of view, with Janet Street-Porter and Denise Welch having a verbal row on the matter.

Host Charlene White asked if given the opportunity, would she interview Meghan and Harry.

"Well it’s not the kind of interview that I do because I don’t normally do interviews from the bended knee position," Janet pithily replied to the audible gaps of shock from her fellow panellists.

Janet went on to say she could not understand why they would do a tell-all interview when all the couple has asked for is privacy.

    CONTINUED

As Prince Harry is a Duke, it is tradition for the eldest son of a Duke to eventually inherit the Dukedom.

So he could be known as the Earl of Dumbarton (Harry's secondary title which was gifted to him on his wedding day along with his Dukedom) before he eventually inherits the Duke of Sussex title.

Any younger sons or daughters Meghan and Harry have will be known as Lord (his name) Windsor or Lady (her name) Windsor – so this applies to their second child.

However, this could all change if the Queen decides to step in again and give Meg and Harry's kids the same titles as Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

If this does happen, Harry and Meghan's children will be styled as either HRH Prince (his name) of Sussex or HRH Princess (her name) of Sussex – just like the Cambridge kids.

NEW BABY WON'T HAVE TITLE UNLESS QUEEN STEPS IN

Like Archie, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's second baby might not have the same title as his or her royal relatives – unless the Queen steps in.

Over 100 years ago, in 1917, King George V issued a Letters Patent, limiting the use of Prince and Princess titles to either the children of the sovereign (for example, Prince Charles), children of the son of the sovereign (for example, Prince William) and the eldest living son of the Prince of Wales (aka Prince George).

So while Prince George has always been entitled to this title, Charlotte and Louis were not – but the Queen stepped in to change this following Charlotte's birth.

When it comes to Harry and Meghan's kids – both Archie and their second child –  the title system works differently.

Harry and Meg's kids are not entitled to the Prince or Princess title (just as Charlotte and Louis were not).
