For Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee Service of Thanksgiving back in June, Meghan Markle stepped out wearing a Dior Haute Couture outfit. The ensemble was in greige, a colour is rarely worn, and it was remarkably similar to the outfit Princess Charlene of Monaco wore to Kate, Princess of Wales and Prince William’s wedding in 2011.
For the Queen’s Jubilee Service, the royal ladies showcased an array of colours with their outfit choices.
Despite Meghan’s muted greige ensemble, she still stood out and sparked conversation.
Meghan’s whole outfit was from the Dior Haute Couture Spring-Summer 2022 collection by Maria Grazia Chiuri.
It comprised a trench coat with three-quarter sleeves, a matching wool and silk skirt and an organza shirt.

She accessorised with a white hat from Dior by Stephen Jones, Dior gloves, and Dior D-Moi heels all in the same greige shade.
The Duchess of Sussex also chose her diamond Birks snowflake earrings that are priced at £12,404 or $15,100.
The earrings are “inspired by the icy beauty of Canadian winters” and made from “2.15ct diamond earrings crafted in 18kt white gold”.
She has worn these earrings on several occasions over the years, most notably for the Commonwealth Day Service in 2020 and New York City in 2021 with the bold red Carolina Hererra dress.
Royal fashion fans loved Meghan’s Dior outfit, and labelled her as the “epitome of grace”, suggesting she delivered “classy” and “modern” vibes.
Princess Charlene, on the other hand, stepped out in a very similar light grey coat dress back in 2011.
She and Prince Albert of Monaco were invited to Kate and William’s wedding at Westminster Abbey.
For the occasion, the Princess of Monaco chose a knee-length light grey coat dress, which had long sleeves, a wide neck and a round collar.
The coat dress was by Akris, a brand Princess Charlene still wears regularly. It had two hidden pockets at the front and was slim fit in the design.
She also wore a fabulously wide-brimmed hat in the same shade of grey and white gloves.
The royal also carried a large rectangular grey clutch bag and chose nude heels to complete the look.
In terms of jewellery, Princess Charlene opted for a pair of large pearl and diamond stud earrings.
This isn’t the first time these two royal ladies have dressed in similar outfits; back in 2021 Meghan wore a red Carolina Hererra dress and four years earlier, Charlene wore a very similar dress by the same designer.
Both dresses featured plunging v-necklines and large skirts. Meghan’s dress featured a slit up the front whereas Charlene’s had a long train.
