A DIY fan has shared her method to update your kitchen in less than an hour.

Her three-step plan promised to be simple and affordable and included improving an outdated backsplash.

The finished look was an effortless masterclass in kitchen styling.

Mrs. Ashley French (@mrsashleyfrench) made it look within the realm of even the most inept of DIYers.

Ashley is a DIY devotee and her TikTok is dedicated to improving and upgrading her home.

She has over 219,000 followers and promises to deliver renovation and décor.

In this post, her focus was on the kitchen and giving it a freshen-up.

“Here are three super simple ways to update your kitchen that takes less than an hour to do," she said.

The difference in the before and after models was subtle but still made an impact.

First, she started with knobs and handles: “You can replace the hardware with something more modern or simply spray paint your existing hardware to give it a new look."

But one commenter said not to bother because it would come off.

Not so, said Ashley. She used high-quality paint and primer-in-one to ensure this wouldn't happen.

It would be worth it though, she figured: “This can totally change the look and the feel of your kitchen."

Secondly, she added storage in the form of floating shelves and hanging racks.

“[These] can add a lot of character and give your kitchen a custom feel."

Finally, she tackled the backsplash and there were many options to change its appearance.

“And last, add a peel-and-stick backsplash. They can go right on top of your drywall or right on top of your existing outdated backsplash," she said in conclusion.

One commenter was taken with the spray paint tip: "Okay, what spray paint? I want to go gold or bronze," she asked.
