CHOOSING a name for your child is a massive decision and is one that you will likely spend a lot of time thinking about.
It can be a challenging decision to make, but usually once a child is born and you start using a name, everyone gets used to it.
However, this isn’t the case for one mum, who has taken to Reddit to ask other parents for advice, after finding out that her four-year-old daughter hates her name and refuses to accept it.
The mother took to a Reddit forum recently to share her story about her daughter's name.
In a post called "My daughter doesn't like her name", the US woman, who called herself Escalus90, said her four-year-old hates her name so much, she refuses to accept it.
The woman explained: "I read the name in a novel and I absolutely loved it from a young age.

“I still love the name. I don't think it's weird.

The mum-of-two admitted she had a "really hard time” naming her kids.
She continued: "I didn't want them super common, I also didn't want them weird.
“Do you think Philomena is weird?"
The post drew a big response from Reddit users, with a variety of mixed opinions on the situation.
One person said: "At least they are real names for once so this isn't that bad."
Another commented: "Both Philomena and Malcom are super old-fashioned. Never hear Pippa for Philomena but all fine names I think.
A third said: "A friend named her daughter this (family name) and she mostly goes by nicknames. I think it's beautiful though.
But someone else added in: "It's okay for me, it's a bit complex and unique, but Pippa is way better.”

Another remarked: "Nothing is wrong with the name. I think the kid hates it the same way I hated my old-timey name my whole childhood and teenage-hood, Agatha, so much that I never go by it."
Another Reddit user stated: "She's four and it's a name that's a b**** to learn to write. Just call her by the nickname she likes and see what happens.”
