Prince William, 40, took his three children Prince George, nine, Princess Charlotte, seven, and Prince Louis, four, to church on Easter Sunday, when some fans spotted a hidden symbol on the soles of his shoes. The Prince of Wales appeared to be wearing black shoes with a “W” initial engraved into the soles.

Royal fan @royalimposters tweeted: “You can see on Prince William’s shoe there is a ‘W’ engraved/brassed into it.”

In the thread of replies, Twitter user @Remisagoodboy noted that Prince Harry, 38, also owns shoes with his initial “H” engraved into the soles.

The royal fan tweeted: “John Lobb does it for both brothers. I am not sure if King Charles is a customer as well.”

They attached photographs showing the Duke of Sussex at the Wellchild Awards in 2014, where he wore a similar pair of black brogues to his brother, except they had “H” initials engraved into both the soles.

Prince William has been known to engrave his shoes since 2011, when he was photographed at a charity gala dinner.

At the time, he was sharing a flat at Clarence House with his brother and his new wife, Kate Middleton.

A royal source told The Telegraph: “William and Harry are similar in shoe size, so I think this is his way of making sure he’s wearing the right shoes. It’s quite sweet, really.”

Although some royal fans claimed the embroidery was done by John Lobb, it could also have been done by Crockett Jones.

This company has a royal warrant from the King and reportedly did the embroidery for the Prince of Wales’s Top Gun slippers that he wore last year.

Royal fans loved William’s sweet touch to his footwear. Twitter user @GJPilki wrote: “Brogues are the best.”

@HelsBells63 endearingly said: “The men in my husband’s family were all size eight feet.

“They could have done with an initial stamped on their shoes, to tell them apart.”

Alongside his black brogues, Prince William wore a navy blazer and trouser suit, with a pale blue shirt and a maroon-coloured tie.

He accompanied his wife, the Princess of Wales, who looked beautiful in a bespoke Catherine Walker sapphire “Mayfair” coat.

She previously wore this in 2022 at the Commonwealth Day Service in Westminster Abbey.

Kate carried her “Natasha” clutch in cobalt blue from Emmy London and wore her “Gianvito 105” Bisque Suede Pumps from Gianvito Rossi.

Despite these items all being repeats, the Princess purchased a new Lock and Co. “Mayfair” pillbox hat in blue for a whopping £825.

Kate additionally wore a pair of Carousel “Stella” earrings with Lapis and Moonstone, which are worth £130.

The Princess even appeared to break royal protocol by donning deep red nail varnish, something which was never seen during the lifetime of Queen Elizabeth II.

The late monarch preferred royal women to wear nude colours like Essie’s “Pink Nude Ballet Slippers”, which she reportedly wore herself.
