Since the Queen’s death last Thursday, September 8, Princess Anne has been undertaking royal engagements non-stop. She has been seen both in military uniform and black mourning clothes over the last week. Whenever she hasn’t been in uniform, Anne has carried an unique bag with her everywhere – one which has led royal fans to say this is why they “love” her.

Princess Anne has been spotted carrying the Balmoral Blue Jura Handbag, which, surprisingly, is from Balmoral Castle’s gift shop.

The saddle-shaped bag is navy blue and features a blue and white tartan print. It has a leather strap and a navy blue tassel dangling from its zip.

Anne has been seen carrying the accessory under her arm, co-ordinating it with various outfits.

She donned the bag on September 10, September 11, September 13, and September 15.

The bag is still for sale on the Balmoral Castle gift shop’s website and costs £80.95.

Describing the accessory, the gift shop said: “This Jura design handbag is made by The Leather Guild with our special Balmoral Blue tweed and luxurious leather.

“The lovely shoulder or cross body bag, which is ideal for the womanon the go, comes with a wide adjustable shoulder strap for comfort and style.

“With a range of zipped pockets inside and out for easy access to your bits and pieces.”

The bag is a clear nod towards the Queen as it represents the place where she peacefully died.

Balmoral Castle was also the late monarch’s favourite spot in the UK, where she visited regularly: it was a quiet corner of the country where she could spend a few days in the fresh, country air – in privacy.

On Tuesday, September 13, Anne accompanied her mother’s coffin as it was carried to St Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh.

She matched her leather bag with an all-black outfit and stand out jewellery.

The Princess was seen wearing a demure brooch and the Grima Pearl Earrings, which she has worn on several occasions in the past.

A gift from her parents, Princess Anne notably wore the stunning gems for her father’s poignant funeral at Windsor Castle last year.

Zack Stone of jewellery experts Steven Stone previously said: “Designed by Andrew Grima, Princess Anne’s Grima Pearl Earrings constitute gold, pearl, and diamonds in a modern leaf design.

“Gifted to her by the Queen and Prince Philip in the late 1960s, the earrings are one of Princess Anne’s longest-serving pieces of jewellery and have huge sentimental value.”

Royal fans were impressed with Anne’s decision to wear her Balmoral Castle gift shop bag on numerous occasions over the last week – not only is the bag relatively cheap compared to other accessories the royals own, but wearing the same thing more than once highlights Anne’s desire to be sustainable and environmentally conscious.

Instagram user @sharkushka wrote: “This is the Princess Anne-iest thing she’s ever done.”

User @sherrydarlyng said: “And this is the reason we love her!”

User @janicreates believed Anne bought the bag around the same time as her mother died. She commented: “I love this. You know she didn’t have a black purse with her when the Queen unexpectedly passed away so she just send someone to get one from the gift shop and went about her duties.”
