Princess Diana’s makeup artist Barbara Daly claimed in “Diana: The Portrait”, that the royal unintentionally spilled some Quelques Fleurs perfume on her dress on the day of her wedding.

But according to the insider, Diana didn’t take long to cover the front of her dress, effectively shielding the mark.

Diana’s famous wedding dress designed by David and Elizabeth Emanuel, was a 1980s-style poofy Princess bridal gown.

The £151,000 dress was made from ivory silk taffeta and featured a record-breaking 25-foot train and 10,000 mother-of-pearl sequins and pearl embellishments.

According to Ms Daly, Diana was simply attempting to apply her favourite perfume, Quelques Fleurs, when it accidentally splashed on her wedding dress.

As this occurred right before her wedding ceremony, Diana simply covered the spot with her hand when she entered St Paul’s Cathedral.

Ms Daly went into even more detail in her book “Diana: The Portrait”, stating that she urged Diana to appear as though she was lifting the front of her dress to avoid stepping on it.

The makeup artist advised against showing a stain on what would later become one of the most famous wedding dresses in history.

The perfume that Diana accidentally spilled was her favourite scent: Quelques Fleurs.

It was launched in 1912 by the Parisian perfume house, Houbigant, and features notes of jasmine, rose and bergamot. It’s also still available to purchase for £186 a bottle.

Diana was preparing for her wedding at her then-fiancé’s home, Clarence House in central London on July 29, 1981.

The soon-to-be Princess of Wales was only 19 years old at the time and likely suffered from pre-wedding jitters.

Luckily for Diana, her wedding dress stain went largely unnoticed by the 3,500 guests inside the cathedral and the 750 million people watching from home.
