A HAIR loss expert has urged sufferers to steer clear of rosemary oil.
It's commonly used to address a thinning mane, but she said you will only end up looking like a greaseball.
And that wasn't all. If you continued with rosemary oil she said you will eventually "smell like granny."
But that could be avoided if you use her special remedies.
In her post, Sophie Humphrey, owner and founder of That Hair Loss Expert (@thathairlossexpert) was aware her viewpoint might run contrary to popular opinion.
She has 16,000 followers on her TikTok, where she promises: “Facts and help from a hair loss expert of 11 years."
Sophie demonstrated her point with a picture of a bald spot.
“Unpopular opinion: stop using rosemary oil to treat your hair loss."
There were other products, she wrote, that had hard facts behind their effectiveness.
“There are better growth stimulators our there," she said.

“They have more hard evidence behind them."
Even better, they would have fewer side effects: “They will not leave you like a greaseball and smelling of grannies."
Rosemary oil built up residue, she wrote, and "grubbiness on your hair and your scalp."
Removing this could become a problem in itself, she wrote, and require "a harsh stripping shampoo.”
She did, however, have a couple of recommendations.
“Two of my favorites are Capilla Longa and caffeine.
“They have some real hard evidence behind them that show they reduce hair loss and accelerate hair growth."
There was some disagreement in the comments section over the merits of rosemary oil.
One person said: “Rosemary oil and water have made my hair stop falling out a lot. I’ve actually seen improvements.”

But this lady had a very different experience: “Rosemary oil made half my hair fall out.”
There was one advocate for one of her suggestions though: “Caffeine is amazing. I like the Plantur Scalp Tonic. No need to wash. Apply twice a week."
