This Blogger's #MakeMySize Movement Is the Push the Fashion Industry Flat Out Needs

The fashion industry may be taking steps to becoming more size inclusive, but Katie Sturino’s recent social media campaign is one of many indicators that there’s still a lot of work to do. The curve blogger and entrepreneur behind the brand Megababe recently started the #MakeMySize movement on Instagram as a way to showcase the all-too-common frustration that many women experience when shopping for clothes at high-end brands that don’t carry a diverse range of sizes.

In the caption of an Instagram photo from August, Sturino explained that she came up with the idea after polling her followers via Instagram Stories and discovering that an appalling 97 percent of them had trouble finding decent clothes in their sizes. “I can’t tell you the frustration when I’m shopping (and I’m a blogger! In NYC!),” she wrote. “So while I applaud brands who are making changes to include more sizes, I’m going see if we can work together to let other designers know that they have a whole demographic that wants to shop. Please tag a brand you wish made your size below! I’m starting the #MakeMySizeMovement!”

Her message quickly caught on with her near-240,000 followers, and the #MakeMySize hashtag has over 400 Instagram posts attached to it. Scroll through the pics ahead to see more from Sturino’s much-needed movement.
