There are some Halloween costumes that come and go, while others are a firm favourite every single October.
This year, we’re unlikely to see many Katniss Everdeens, or anyone recreating Miley’s iconic 2013 VMA look.
But it wouldn’t be Halloween without at least one Mia Wallace.
Accessories brand, Wave, have used search data to predict which costumes are going to be big for 2022.
So if you’re currently scrambling for an outfit – or are desperate to stand out from the crowd – here’s what you can expect to see at spooky parties this Halloween.
Cruella De Vil
Disney’s Curella might have hit the big screen last May – and the original 101 Dalmatians film made its debut way back in 1996 – but it seems the public still has an appetite for all things Dalmatian print.
And after Netflix’s Do Revenge made ‘Glennergy’ a thing – any costume that pays homage to the icon that is Glenn Close works for us.
Searches for ‘Cruella De Vill makeup’ have spiked 700%, along with ‘Cruella De Vill outfit’ soaring 400%.
So expect to see lots of two-toned wigs this Halloween.
Daenerys Targaryen
Game of Thrones fans were in uproar when the series ended in 2019 and beloved character, Daenerys Targaryen met a rather controversial end.
But it appears her ‘Mad Queen’ arc in the show’s final series didn’t put fans off.
And with the House of Dragons gaining popularity since its release in August, the love for the Targaryen family has been officially rekindled.
Searches for “Daenerys Targaryen costume” have seen a 350% increase.
Stranger Things
First it was Elle with her buzz cut and Eggos, then it was the Scoops Ahoy sailor uniform.
And with another year, comes another Stranger Things Halloween costume.
‘Stranger Things Halloween costume’ has had nearly 3,000 searches in September alone, and has soared 242% in the past 12 months.
We’re counting on lots of Eddie Munsons and maybe even a few Argyles – the Surfer Boy pizza delivery guy who was maybe a little too relaxed.
Wednesday Addams
She’s a popular choice every year, but with Netflix’s new Wednesday series landing on the streaming platform on November 23, it’s only added to the Wednesday Addams fever.
Her’s is arguably one of the easiest costumes to recreate and searches for ‘black dress and white collar’ have surged 200% in the past month.
We’re sure to see her other relatives make an appearance on All Hallows Eve, too, with searches for ‘Addams Family costumes’ spiking 140%.
The Sanderson Sisters
After waiting nearly 20 years for the sequel, The Sanderson Sisters are finally back in Hocus Pocus 2.
Brits are clearly making the most of the nostalgia, with searches for ‘Sanderson Sisters costume’ doubling in the past 12 months.
