If you take a quick scroll through TikTok, you’ll be met with thousands of videos showing how to get a long-lasting, bouncy blow-dry. The tool everyone seems to be using is a Dyson Airwrap (£479.99 here), and there are plenty of hacks on the app offering advice on how to get the most out of the styler. However, TOWIE’s Amber Turner is showing us a brand new way to use it – and the hack is borderline genius.
In anew videotitled “If you don't know this Dyson hack, get to know it,” Amber lets her followers in on how she achieves her go-to hairstyle: bouncy, blow-dried ends with enough volume to make a Victoria’s Secret model jealous. The video starts like any other Dyson tutorial on TikTok – with Amber wrapping small sections of hair around the barrel of the Airwrap – but then comes the part we haven’t seen before.
“Once you’ve blasted your hair with the cold air, take a bobby pin and run it up the barrel like that. Repeat the steps until you’ve done all of the sections,” she advises.
Amber points out that there’s a hollow line running up the barrel of the Airwrap’s curling attachment, and that line is perfect for sliding a pin through to neatly secure hair while it’s still wrapped around the tool. She says that this way of curling and clipping hair allows each section to properly set, which in-turn produces longer-lasting waves.
The star’s followers are taking to the comment section of the clip to marvel at the hack, and to dish out praise on the end result of her home styling session. She also addresses some of the comments about the Dyson’s hefty price tag.
“Love the look but I can’t afford the Dyson,” laments one follower.
To this comment, Amber mentions there are plenty of dupes out there that use similar airflow techniques. Personally, we like BaByliss’ Air Style 1000, just£60 here.
Amber’s followers have also spotted something else in the video – she’s got a new hair colour. We’re used to watching the 29 year old on TOWIE with a perfectly toned, bleach blonde shade, but she’s just transformed her look with a darker “mushroom blonde” – a colour currently trending thanks to the likes of Hailey Bieber and Margot Robbie.
With plenty of celebs going darker with their hair colours for winter, Amber is proving she’s bang on trend. The darker, ashier tone also suits her skin tone perfectly.
“Your hair looks lovely in that colour,” praises one TikTok follower, while a second adds: “Love the colour change, it really suits you.”
A third asks Amber what the exact colour of the toner is called. Sadly the star doesn’t share those details but we’ll be sure to keep an eye out for further updates on her new look.
