Former TOWIE star Frankie Essex gave birth to her twins, whom she shares with boyfriend Luke Love, in May and has since revealed to the world that they’ve named their little bundles of joy Logan and Luella.
In her exclusive column for OK!, Frankie has discussed a range of topics in regards to motherhood – from her first social outing with the twins and a blackout at her home when they were just a few days old, to returning to the gym and the tot’s already learning sign language.
This week, mum-of-two Frankie talks about Luke’s first birthday as a dad, as well as her reaction to Amy Childs' exciting twin news.
Luke’s birthday
It was Luke’s birthday on Monday (Halloween) and on the Sunday we went down to the West End. We drove down as trying to get the train with the babies is too hard. We were down there all day, which was lovely. Luke loves Mayfair and that part of London, so we went to a restaurant there called Zuma with the twins.
For his actual birthday, I got him this really nice poem written up about memories and things which was really nice. He really liked it – but it got sent to Chloe [Sims’] house and she’s in LA, so I had to just text it to him! He loved all his presents.
I’d got the twins these little outfits, but they came the next day. They both said ‘Happy Birthday Daddy’ on them and my idea was to give them a pink and blue balloon each and get them dressed up, but obviously they didn’t come in time. I still got a cute picture of them with their balloons though.
Logan update
He’s doing well. We took him to the doctors on Thursday and they’re really happy with his surgery wound and everything. They said it’s clearing up really well, so that’s good. He’s still on antibiotics but he finishes this week and then I think that might be it and he’ll be off them which is good because they give him an upset stomach and he doesn’t stop pooing.
Luella’s neck problems
I said to Luke today that Luella looks so different and she’s really holding her own now. She looks like a different baby! Where her head’s not tilting to one side anymore, she just looks different. She looks skinner – it’s really weird. Maybe her head shape is changing a little bit because of the physio… I don’t know, but yeah she’s really holding her own.
She’s become much stronger these last couple of weeks. We’re really pushing her to keep moving her neck the other way and it seems to be working.
Amy Childs is expecting twins!
I can’t believe it! I was so shocked. It was on Luke’s birthday on Monday when we saw the news and I was like, no way. I’d seen on OK!’s Instagram on Sunday that there was an exclusive pregnancy reveal the next day and I was wondering who it was, and then it was Amy. I was like ‘Oh my God!’ and I rung her and I said congratulations. She said ‘I’m going to need so much advice!’ to me, and I was like, ‘I’ve got you’.
We had a little chat and yeah, I’m so happy for her and Billy.
Advice to Amy (and other twin mums-to-be)
Don’t get two of everything. Obviously high-chairs make sense, but toys wise, don’t get two of everything. For example, one of the twins likes the bouncer and the other one doesn’t, and we have two. So just try and buy one of something and see how you go rather than have two of everything in the house. The stuff just builds up otherwise.
With Amy, she’s already got two babies so she might still have stuff from before. Plus, it depends on what she’s having. She might be having two boys or two girls, it’s just crazy isn’t it? I’m so excited for her. It’s a good little adventure for her.
I’ve already bought the twins’ first Christmas presents
This week, after Luke’s birthday, it’s like Christmas now isn’t it? So Luke wanted to go to Smyths so we went there and we bought the twins some Christmas presents – all different stuff. But we didn’t buy two of the same as they have to learn to share things anyway.
We did get Luella some pink stuff though, and Luke’s a big Arsenal fan so he wants to get Logan a little kit. With the World Cup coming, he might get an England kit as well.
I was thinking that we’re best getting it sorted now just so it’s done and we can get the twins’ stuff out of the way.
