Viral TikTok shares makeup top tips to look younger
While makeup has the power to instantly sculpt a face, it can just as easily make people look older if applied incorrectly.
Many may think that the older they get, the more makeup they need to cover up their flaws – namely smile lines, frown lines, crow’s feet and age spots.
But, this is actually counterproductive as makeup should enhance your skin, not mask it.
A makeup item that is a staple for many is concealer, however, beauty experts at Roxie Cosmetics have warned that if the “wrong” one is used, it can be a “big mistake”.
They claimed that putting on the “wrong concealer” can “add years to the face”.

The reason is that the skin around the eyes is delicate so it will make “fine lines and wrinkles more visible”.
Wearing the incorrect concealer will only “highlight the lines”, it will also make them “look worse than they are”.
Instead, a liquid concealer that is moisturising should be used as this will help the skin.
The experts advised: “Choose a concealer with an intense hydrating effect so that skin will not look old and dry.”

Concealers can also make the eyes “look smaller” when applied directly along the lower lash line.
To avoid this, focus only on the dark circles under the eyes, and conceal them away from the lash line.
A very small amount of concealer should be used and focused only on the inner corner.
The makeup pros warned: “Do not cover the shadows directly below the lower lash line to maintain the shape and definition of the eyes.”
So many women place it all the way under the eye and the outer corner and it can settle in fine lines and enhance wrinkles.
When it comes to the shade of concealer, it should match your skin tone and, contrary to popular belief, it should not be lighter.
Lighter concealer will only enhance dark circles and make them look grey leading to the dreaded raccoon eyes – not a flattering look.
