GRAND ANNUAL TRENDS:
- Look north of 138 in the official ratings
- Only one winner has carried more than 11st 5lb
- Must have raced at Cheltenham before
- Only one winning favourite in past decade
TWO TAFFS can take a wide open Grand Annual.
High weights have struggled with no recent winner shouldering more than 11st 8lb.
So those at the top can be crossed out. That means Great Field, Marracudja, Capeland, Paloma Blue, McGroarty and Gino Trail.
A win earlier in the season has been a negative. That puts a question mark around Greanateen, Éclair De Beaufeu, Chosen Mate, Caid Du Lin, Lisp, Jan Maat, Adrrastos and The Bay Birch.
Croco Bay is a bit long in the tooth at 13 although he did win the race last year which, it could be argued, is the best trend of all. Not completing on your most recent start is not ideal for Theinval and Winter Escape.
That leaves just three standing — Us And Them, Ballywood and Two Taffs. You can spread your stake across all the trio given their tasty prices.
For a single win bet, TWO TAFFS just gets the nod. He went close at Warwick last time and was second on his sole start at Cheltenham.
