While a natural-looking tan is certainly not a must-have when it comes to getting those gorgeous arms and pins out, some people like to have a bit of a glow during the summer time – and Coco & Eve can help.

Tanning in the sun or by or using sun beds can have nasty long-term consequences for you and your skin. Harmful UV rays from the sun can age you prematurely, and both can drastically increase the risk of skin cancer.

That's why we recommend getting your tan from a bottle, and we've tried out quite a few so you know which ones are worth the effort.

Coco & Eve Sunny Honey Bali Bronzing Foam Review: First impressions

We've used uur fair share of fake tans in our lifetime, and we have to admit we love a nice-looking bottle.

When we got our pale mitts on a 200ml bottle of Coco & Eve's Sunny Honey Bali Bronzing Foam, we loved its aesthetic immediately. The pink and yellow colourway was eye-catching, memorable and looked great in our dull bathroom.

The cap was easy to pop off and pop back on, so no fiddling around with pumps, screws or lids. Ideal for when your hand is covered with a tanning mitt.

We won't lie, when we pumped the colour onto our applicator mitt, we were a little shocked at the grey-green tinge of the foam (more on that to come!) but we were immediately welcomed by the fake tan's gorgeous smell.

Instead of the classic, sickly biscuity notes we usually associate with fake tan, think tropical fruits, pineapple and mango. It was like our very own summer cocktail for our body. So far, so good.

Coco & Eve Sunny Honey Bali Bronzing Foam Review: Application

Unlike most fake tan moisturisers that are gradual developers, this foam pump requires you to use a mitt for an even application.

But first of all, fake tan should be applied to dry, clean and exfoliated skin that is free from any moisturiser. We applied our fake tan the day after we exfoliated, shaved and moisturised – leaving time for our pores to close naturally.

We applied two to three pumps onto our mitt (if you're feeling like a brand cheerleader, you could apply with Coco & Eve's branded mitt) after we showered and patted down our legs, then used downwards, circular motions to cover our arms and legs.

It was super easy to apply, and easy to see if we'd missed any spots. It smelled divine and felt moisturising.

Coco & Eve advise to use it sparingly on knobbly bits like your wrist, elbows, knees and elbows – so be extra careful around those parts.

The brand states it can be rinsed off after two hours for a light glow, but left overnight for a deeper and longer-lasting tan. We did the letter, and found it didn't stain our bedsheets (result!) and was easy to rinse off any excess the morning after with warm, soapy water.

Then, we patted it dry and lovingly applied our fave moisturiser in a downwards motion.

Though we loved the unique, super cute pink and yellow colourway of Coco & Eve's Sunny Honey Bali Bronzing Foam, we were taken aback by the grey-green base of the foam.

The smell on the other hand was divine, exactly like a jam-packed, guava-laden summer cocktail, so we weren't too taken aback by the colour to dive straight in. We used two to three pumps per leg, and two per arm – then one each for our chest, neck and shoulders.

According to Coco & Eve, the reason its Bali Bronzing Foam has a grey-green base is because it works to even out skin pigmentation. We have pinky skin, so the Medium shade was ideal for us as the green tints worked with our skin type, giving us an all-over, even and natural-looking glow.

It didn't turn out orange either, which was a big plus for us as we prefer a natural look. We loved that the tan has a low comedogenic rating, too, meaning it won't clog pores or cause breakouts – which we can attest to.

After application, we left our tan to develop overnight – and it didn't stain our bedsheets. We then rinsed it with warm, soapy water the next morning – and it left a gorgeous, subtle and natural-looking tan, which is exactly what we were looking for.

Moisturising it daily locked it in place for around five days, before we decided to reapply.

Though we loved the colour, Coco & Eve claims that its Bronzing Foam has unique ingredients in it to 'blur' cellulite… it didn't. So don't buy it for that reason. It is chock with good-to-skin vitamins, which can improve the overall appearance of your skin, and we did find our pink-toned skin was evened out with a subtle glow.

We won't lie, Coco & Eve's Sunny Honey Bali Bronzing Foam is not the cheapest fake tan we've come across – but you get what you pay for, right?

On Cult Beauty, a 200ml bottle is going for £25.90, which is the same price on the Coco & Eve website, Feelunique, and Amazon.

The verdict: is Coco & Eve Sunny Honey Bali Bronzing Foam worth the money?

Yes, we admit, at over £25 it is pricier than your usual go-to, high-street buys – but we think it is worth the money.

While it didn't 'blur' cellulite or lumpy bits (we're hardly surprised), and it was an odd base colour, we loved it and are sold on the cult buy.

Not only did it smell incredible, but it was super easy to use, rinse off and it was long-lasting – as well as transformed our skin with a healthy and even-looking glow.

The pink tones in our skin appeared even, and we had a tan that we were proud of – without the harmful effects of sunbathing or sunbeds. We definitely felt like we had a Bali glow, and every day felt sunny, honey.
