He’s been on our screens for almost two years as one of Walford’s heartthrobs, but away from EastEnders, James Farrar lives a very wholesome life.
The actor’s real life is world’s away from his character, jack-the-lad Zack Hudson, who’s had his fair share of turbulent relationships.
His rocky romance with Nancy Carter ended in tears when it was revealed that he’d had an affair with Sam Mitchell. Villain Janine Butcher also spent the night with him before his brief fling with Whitney Dean, which resulted in her getting pregnant.
Before the soap, James carved out a successful acting career working on huge TV shows like Call The Midwife in 2017, Doctors in 2016, Silent Witness in 2015 and Hollyoaks in 2012.
He’s also got an incredible modelling career under his belt too. On Instagram he’s shared some of his latest campaigns for Jimmy Choo and Dolce and Gabbana, working alongside the likes of Nicole Kidman and Kate Moss.
He recently revealed the devastating reason why he took a step back from his modelling career and took the job on EastEnders.
“One of the reasons I joined EastEnders was because of my mum, who has cancer,” he told TV Mag.
“It meant that if these are my last days with her, we spent them together rather than me travelling the world.”
The 35-year-old is also a family man and has been with his partner wellness writer Ali Roff Farrer for 15 years.
In 2020, Ali published her book ‘The Wellfulness Project’ and James gushed: “The day I shoot my first Hollywood movie is the day I’ll achieve what you have today Ali. You did it.”
The couple, who live in Blackheath, have been together for 15 years and have a little girl together named Summer.
To celebrate her first birthday in November last year, James shared an adorable montage video of Summer on Instagram, writing alongside it: “A year of Summer, our lives are forever filled with sunshine with you Farrar Girl. We are so blessed.”
He also gave an update on his mum’s health in another sweet post dedicated to his daughter.
“Summer Farrar, your Mamgu (grandma), and her health, was the reason we decided to have you; we needed you to experience her strength and her magic,” he penned.
“Two years on from her diagnosis we have her in good health and we have you, 1 years old today!”
