Netflix has treated fans of The Crown to a glimpse of the final episodes by releasing new stills from the show – including a first look at Carole Middleton.

The hugely successful series draws to a close tomorrow when the remaining five episodes land on the streaming platform.

The last episodes delve into Prince William’s university days at St Andrews, where he meets his future wife Kate Middleton, the inquest into Princess Diana’s death and Princess Margaret’s ill health.

In preview images, the Queen – played by Imelda Staunton – is seen being briefed on her Golden Jubilee celebrations, which took place in February 2002.

The actress – who is best known for House of Dragon and Maryland – is seen with shoulder-length blonde hair as she plays The Crown’s Carole Middleton

At one point, the Queen bends down to inspect a figurine horse carriage and has a deeply saddened expression on her face.

The landmark moment in her reign came at a particularly poignant time for the Queen – whose dear friend Porchy had recently died.

Just one week after her Golden Jubilee, the Queen’s sister Princess Margaret passed away at the age of 72. Netflix has released a photo showing the royal – played by Leslie Manville – looking particularly frail as she sits in an empty hospital room.

The following month, the Queen Mother, who was 101, also passed away – with her death certificate citing ‘extreme’ old age.

What’s more, the final episodes will also delve into Prince William and Kate Middleton’s romance as students at St Andrews University in the early 2000s.

The show has cast Eve Best as Kate’s mother Carole Middleton, who is presented as pushing her daughter to pursue William and even encourages her to ‘show off’ her figure at the infamous student fashion show.

The actress – who is best known for House of Dragon and Maryland – is seen with the shoulder-length blonde hair the royal’s mother was sporting in 2001 as she plays The Crown’s Carole.

Another promotional image shows Kate – played by Meg Bellamy – speaking to her future husband while walking through campus with her boyfriend Rupert Finch, played by Oli Green.
