The fallout from Shia LaBeouf’s alleged abuse has, sadly, come between two women he has dated, Page Six has learned — and the bad blood led to a tense confrontation between them at the Bel Air hotel.
Chic British singer FKA twigs is suing the “Transformers” actor for alleged sexual battery, assault and infliction of emotional distress during their relationship, which lasted from the summer of 2018 to the spring of 2019. (LaBeouf has admitted being abusive to those around him, but denied her specific claims).
When she first made the shocking allegations in an interview with Elle magazine in September 2021, actress Margaret Qualley — who also briefly dated LaBeouf in early 2021 — posted the cover on social media with the caption “Thank you.”
She later told Harper’s Bazaar that she posted the cover because, “It was important to me for her to know that I believe her — and it’s as simple as that.”
We’re told that after the piece came out, Twigs and Qualley exchanged messages, and Twigs hoped that Qualley would agree to be a witness in the case, which is set to go to trial in April 2023.
But it seems Twigs became disappointed that — despite her public show of support — Qualley didn’t appear willing to throw herself into the suit as actively as the singer had hoped.
We’re told the two women — who hadn’t known each other before the Elle piece was published — happened to run into each other at the luxury hotel in Los Angeles.
Sources say it’s unclear who approached whom, but the pair got into an intense verbal dispute over the matter in full view of the other hotel guests, and that Qualley’s fiancé, Bleachers singer Jack Antonoff, came to her defense and joined in with the argument.
Insiders say that Twigs, whose real name is Tahliah Debrett Barnett, and Qualley were both left “shaken” by the incident.
Reps for Qualley declined to comment. Reps for Antonoff and Twigs didn’t respond to multiple requests for comment.
