Many of us are packing up for a Great British staycation. But the hassle of squishing bags into the boot can add unwanted stress to your family holiday. 

Fortunately a professional organiser has shared her top tips for stress-free car travel – and it’s simpler than you might expect.

How to pack for a stress-free staycation: Nicola’s four top tips 

‘Add a floating boot organiser to store essentials like waterproofs, first aid, sick bags and tissues, tyre pump and electrical devices,’ advised Nicola, who is working with Car Store UK. 

These over-the-seat pouches are attached to the backseat headrest and give you dividers that are easy to access.

It means little ones can reach behind them for an iPad or snack without the adults having to worry about sifting through a bag.

It keeps things neat in the boot and makes it easy to unpack. You can simply take the entire storage container inside, rather than juggle several smaller bags. 

Nicola continued: ‘Place your clothes in vacuum bags and pack them into holdall bags. This will give you a lot more room inside your boot to pack more things.’

This works particularly well for car travel as weight is less of a concern. The main factor is minimising space so focus on that instead. 

If you find yourself really tight on space then you can always slide one of the vacuum pack bags under the front passenger seat to get another load of clothes on the road.
