I feel depressed and worn down by college work and can’t speak to my parents – The Sun

DEAR DEIDRE: I FEEL down almost every day. I want to feel happy and think about the positive things in my life but I keep dwelling on the negative stuff.

I’m a boy of 17 and have no one to talk to about this. My parents are always arguing at home.

I am trying to keep up with college work online but that is hard and there is no one to help me.

The other students aren’t really my friends either.

After a stupid argument, none of them want to be in touch.

DEIDRE SAYS: Even without the crisis, this is a difficult life stage.

Teens mature at different rates. Focus less on the popular, extrovert students and contact quieter classmates who feel isolated too.

Tell the teachers if you are struggling. They may be able to offer extra support.

And explain to your parents how distressing their rows are so they can be more sensitive to your feelings.
