I tend to think of myself as an okay cook.
But being a mum to a one-year-old, I often don't get the most time to experiment with different and exciting dinners. So when I was asked if I wanted to try out some of Gousto's new food collection, I jumped at the chance.
I have tried some of the brands competitors before and it hasn't exactly gone that well.

However, I am never one to pass up an opportunity to eat some yummy food so I dived right in.
Gousto, for anyone that doesn't know, is a British meal kit retailer, which supplies subscribers with recipe kit boxes that include ready-measured, fresh ingredients and easily followed recipes.
It's great for those who struggle to decide what to cook as well people who end up wasting lots of food as they don't get around it eating it.
I wasn't told what was coming in my box so I was decided to find out when I opened it.
The dishes I was tasked with cooking were Duck Breast, Braised Red Cabbage, Potato & Parsnip Gratin, as well as the Ultimate Bacon Cheeseburger With Rosemary Salted Fries and the Basilicious Meatball Sub With Fries.
They all sounded good but the Meatball Sub really caught my eye and I couldn't wait to try it first.
As I said previously, I have tried out some of Gousto's competitors before and found the recipes a bit faffy and long – with them talking me tons of time and resulting in me using every pan in the kitchen.
However, the Gousto steps were easy to follow and it was cooked and on my plate in the allotted time. I was so surprised by how good it looked (and tasted) too!
A meatball sub is something I would have never thought about cooking, so it definitely added some more excitement to my week, rather than just doing the usual spaghetti bolognese or chilli con carne.
Things were the same with the burger too, with it quick and easy and tasting amazing – the rosemary salted fries a personal highlight.
I'm not going to lie, I'm not a fan of duck, but the potato and parsnip gratin was delicious, as was the braised red cabbage.
The good thing about Gousto is that they change the recipes a lot too, so you'll never get bored.
