The psychology student, from Florida, US, began working in the infamous chain after visiting the restaurant as a delivery driver.
She saw all the glam girls who worked there and instantly fell in love with the brand.
Before she applied, Karina spoke about it with her parents who looked past the controversy and supported her decision.
Karina said: "In a month, I would say I make around $2,000 (£1,500) in tips, depending on the length of the month.
"Remember, I only work weekends. Being a student, I really don't have bills, but my tips have helped me pay for a new set of golf clubs as well as rent for my apartment.
"I'm also able to help my mum out with whatever she needs. With that being said, I am and have been in the process of saving for a new car."
The student knew her parents couldn't dictate what she did anymore, but got their love and support anyway.
She admitted: "My mum has always been the supportive type – she always cares about me and wants the best for me.
"So she was fine with it, and I live with my stepdad as well, and he didn't care."

Karina explained how her dad, who lives in Virginia, wasn't the biggest fan, but said he wasn't going to tell her what to do.
But the only person who had a huge issue was her brother.
The Hooters worker told her sibling that it isn't just a place where women show off their bodies and make money.
She continued: "Honestly, I was never really a confident girl.
"So once I started this job making money with a good group of friends, I started becoming a lot more confident in myself.
"Everyone gets along. The managers are so good, and the customers have been coming for a long time.
"Everyone's just very welcoming to the new girls. It's such a good environment."
