‘Tone-deaf’ influencer slammed for checking into £1,000-a-night Savoy hotel after her heating broke (and poses in a £2,000 outfit)
- Lydia Millen, 34, shared a TikTok of herself getting ready to go to The Savoy
- She filmed herself picking out a £365 dress and £1,200 Louboutin boots
- Unimpressed fans said it must be ‘satire’ and slammed the timing of the video
An influencer has been slammed for booking into the exclusive Savoy hotel after complaining about the broken heating in her Cotwold’s mansion.
Lydia Millen, 34, from Milton Keynes, shared a video with her 739,000 TikTok followers yesterday showing her getting ready to check into the exclusive five-star establishment – which charges up to £1,000-a-night.
In the one-minute clip, Lydia – who boasts over 1.2m Instagram followers – is seen picking out a £2,000 outfit from the dressing room of her Buckinghamshire home.
Explaining why she was making the last-minute trip, Lydia said: ‘The heating is currently broken in my house so I’m heading down to London.
‘I’m checking into the Savoy and I’m going to make full use of their wonderful hot water. So let’s get ready for the day!’
Since the video was uploaded last night, the clip has amassed over one million views and sparked fierce debate in the comments – with critics labelling it ‘tone-deaf’ amid the ongoing cost of living crisis.

The clip starts with Lydia posing in her dressing gown and picking out a £365 Seraphina tartan dress.
She then goes on to pair it with some £15.99 80 denier tights from Calzedonia, a £40 black velvet headband from Clementine and Mint and some Louboutin £1,295 knee-high boots.
Lydia finishes off her ensemble with a £389 Italian wool maxi coat from her most recent collection with Karen Millen.
She then spritzes herself with Penhaligon perfume, which costs £120 a bottle, before picking out her Birkin Madame Sellier 25 bag in black, which could have cost up to £18,000.

Despite the fashion focus of the video, seeing Lydia check into the exclusive hotel at a time with millions of Brits are struggling to afford food and heating didn’t sit well with her followers.
‘Must be nice,’ one said. ‘The rest of us peasants are currently using hot water bottles and hoodies.’
Another added: ‘Going to the Savoy because her heating is broken when half the country can’t afford to turn theirs on…’
‘When my boiler broke, I went to my mums in my PJs, a third said.
‘I can’t believe this isn’t satire,’ a fourth wrote.

Meanwhile, a fifth said: ‘Could you have got an emergency call out? Love you Lydia – I would have just shared the outfit. Others are suffering.’
However, Lydia did respond to some of the backlash and insisted she was trying to keep her content positive for fans.
One told her: ‘And here’s me, THE HEATING’S OFF BECAUSE I CAN’T AFFORD TO PUT IT ON.’
Lydia replied: ‘My heart breaks too, it’s honestly heartbreaking I just hope you know that other people’s realities can be different and that’s not wrong x.’

Another follower said: ‘I love you and your content, but my boiler is currently broken and I’m wearing three jumpers.’
Lydia shot back: ‘We have been the same over the weekend as we gave the dogs the heater.’
Along her with collaborations with Karen Millen, Lydia has also worked with underwear brand Intimissi, Sky TV, Creed Fragrances and Landrover.
