As viewers continue to watch their risky affair unfold, we've taken a closer look at the actress's life, which is miles away from her on screen persona.
Soap star husband
Amy has played the role of Tracy Metcalfe on the popular ITV soap since 2014. But before, fans may recognise the star from her time as Jennifique McQueen in Hollyoaks.
Away from TV, the star is married to Toby-Alexander Smith who played the role of Gray Atkins on rival soap EastEnders from 2019 to 2022. The couple first met in the audience of Strictly Come Dancing in 2019 and began dating in 2020 – just before the Covid-19 pandemic.
Recalling the first time they met during an interview on Loose Women, they revealed it was "pure chance" they were sat next to each other on the front row. "He walked in and sat next to me and I turned around to my friend and I was like, 'He’s so fit'. And then we were just chatting all night and really got on," Amy said.
They quickly moved in together and in September 2021 revealed exclusively to OK! that they were expecting their first child together. At the time they told us: "We’re so excited to become parents."
They welcomed their daughter and first child, Bonnie Mae Smith in December 2021. The pair, who tend to keep their love life out of the spotlight, shared the news that they were engaged in August 2022.
The following year on 30 August 2023, the soap star couple tied the knot at the Talici Hill Rustic Villas – a beautiful 17th century villa in the foothills of Montenegro’s towering mountains.
Famous sister
Amy is the sister of Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh, who rose to fame when she auditioned for Pop Stars: The Rivals back in 2002. Kimberley joined the hugely successful girl band alongside Cheryl Tweedy, Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts and the late Sarah Harding – just recently Girls Aloud announced that they would be touring, more than a decade after they split.
Their sister, Sally Walsh has also been in the spotlight having played the role of Marlon Dingle's troublemaker girlfriend, Lyn Hutchinson in Emmerdale. Her character famously got into a catfight with Kelly Windsor.
Sally starred on the ITV soap for three years until her character discovered her nemesis Kelly’s affair with her half-brother Scott Windsor. She continued acting and went on to appear in EastEnders and Coronation Street.
Previously speaking to The Sun, Amy said: "It was a bit like Fame in our house.
"Every morning before school Sally and Kimberley would rehearse their own little shows and my mum was a music teacher, so she’d be accompanying them on the piano.
"When I first joined Emmerdale, me, my Mum and Kimberley all sat together to watch and we had a little bit of a tea party, which was nice."
