Inside Rochelle Humes’ daughter Alaia’s night with Kate Middleton including reaction to her hair

Rochelle Hulmes dazzled everyone on Monday night as she rubbed shoulders with royalty alongside her daughter Alaia as they both attended the launch of a new initiative by Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales.

The TV star, 33 and her eldest daughter Alaia-Mai, nine, headed to BAFTA London as they celebrated the launch of the next stage of Kate’s Shaping Us campaign, a new initiative to aims to improve society's understanding of the importance of early childhood in shaping adulthood and society as a whole.

Dressed up for the occasion, Alaia-Mai looked stunning as she sported a chic floral print dress with high neck collar and lace trim detail, with a trendy brown coat helping her to stave off the Winter chill as she arrived at the event.

Rochelle meanwhile was dressed in a complimentary shade of chocolate brown as she donned a silky maxi dress complete with long sleeves.

With both mother and daughter dressed to impress, Alaia-Mai couldn’t hide her joy as she was able to meet with Kate, with the youngster seen grinning from ear to ear as she shook hands with the senior royal.

For Kate’s own outfit, the stylish royal had opted for a vivid red trouser suit by Alexander McQueen which packed a serious sartorial punch, while a pair of statement earrings and Miu Miu bow clutch bag completed the catwalk ready ensemble.

And it appears, the Princess’ style was one of the main draws for Alaia-Mai’s attendance, as Rochelle cheekily revealed she was a big fan of her chic hairdo.

“There’s only one reason that she’s here,’ teased the star as she looked towards Kate, “and….it's your hair. She has the best hair, mum!”

Despite being a school night, Rochelle felt it was important for Alaia-Mai to be in attendance at the event, as she helped the Princess to highlight the importance of supporting families during early years development.

During her keynote speech, Rochelle spoke candidly about her experience of being raised by a single mother – and how she was instrumental in shaping her to be the person she is today.

“She [my mother] taught me, protected me, cuddled me when I was upset and – please believe me – in equal measure corrected me when I was wrong. She taught me that anything was possible and that if you don't ask, you don't get,” said Rochelle.

The star studded event also saw appearances from Zara McDermott and Ferne Cotton as they all attended the lavish bash to celebrate the launch of the potentially life changing campaign.

Describing it as “her life’s work”, a Kensington Palace spokesperson said the importance of early years development would be key focus for the princess for the rest of her life.

In support of the campaign, a 90 second claymation film will hit our screens in cinemas around the country to help raise awareness and understanding of how early years development is shaped by interactions and her environment.
