People across the world have paid tribute to singerSinéad O'Connor after it was announced yesterday that she had tragically passed away at the age of 56. Revealing the sad news,Sinéad’s family said that they were “devastated” to share the news regarding their “beloved Sinéad”.

The singer first shot to fame in 1990 with an emotional rendition of Prince's song, Nothing Compares 2 U. Throughout her 37-year long career, Sinéad secured eight UK Top 40 singles and seven UK Top 40 albums.

Away from her music career, Sinéad had a string of public romances and was married four times. Her first marriage took place when she was 21 years old and she tied the knot with musician John Reynolds.

The pair were married between 1987 and 1991 and welcomed a son, called Jake, together. Despite going their separate ways, the pair seemingly remained close and John played the drums on her 2013 tour. Meanwhile, in an interview withThe Guardian in 2021, Sinéad said that John was “still my best friend”.

In 1996, the All Apologies singer became a mother for the second time when she welcomed a baby girl, Roisin, with John Waters. The pair split shortly after Roisin was born.

Five years later, in 2001 it was revealed that Sinéad was engaged to journalist Nick Sommerlad. The couple kept their relationship very private, though divorced in 2004 after three years of marriage.

In 2004, Sinéad and Irish folk singer Donal Lunny welcomed a son called Shane into the world. Sadly, Shane passed away 18 months ago,with an unverified Twitter account believed to be that of Sinéad paying tribute to the youngster following his passing.

Two years on, Sinéad became a mother for the fourth time when she gave birth to a son, Yeshua – whom she shared with Frank Bonadio. The pair’s relationship came to an end a year later, though it’s reported that they remained friends.

Sinéad later walked down the aisle again in 2010 when she married musician Steve Cooney. The pair were married for eight months, and Sinéad had only good things to say about Steve.

“Steve is lovely so it’s not his fault but mine. It was an extremely happy marriage. I’m heartbroken about it breaking up,” theIrish Examiner reports her as saying at the time.

Sinéad’s fourth and final marriage came in 2011 when she married Barry Herridge at The Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas. The pair said their ‘I dos’ just three months into their relationship, though went their separate ways within a month of becoming husband and wife.
