Following an exciting 3-0 victory over Wales on Tuesday night, Gareth Southgate's England side celebrated with their supporters and loved ones.
Three well-taken goals in the second half helped the squad hammer the Wales side on a warm night in Qatar, advancing Southgate's team to the last Round of 16 and what looks to be a more challenging match against Senegal on Sunday.
Prior to England’s win, the player’s families were spotted enjoying a lavish pre-match dinner. Harry Maguire’s youngest sibling, Daisy, 22, posted a sweet snap of all the family in front of the £1billion luxury cruise ship MSC World Europa, with the caption “Let’s go”.
Footballers’ wives and girlfriends are among the 6,762 guests on board the brand new luxury liner, where passengers can dine at 33 on board restaurants and bars. However, as revealed by The Sun, no players will be allowed on deck. The players live in a strict hotel Covid bubble away from their partners and families.
Daisy posted a lavish dining set up, with plates adorned with images of the England centre-back. She also posted a sweet snap of two of the youngest members of Harry Maguire’s family riding on the shoulders of other family members, all wearing matching England tops with Harry’s name and number 6.
As well as sharing the view from her seat as the match kicked off, Daisy reposted a cosy picture of her, Sasha Attwood and Kiera Grealish, Jack Grealish’s long-term girlfriend and younger sister.
Sasha Attwood is amongst those booked to stay on the luxury cruise ship during the World Cup. While the ship is parked off the coast of Doha, five-star packages to stay on board can cost up to £6,000. The astounding MSC World Europa features six pools, 14 whirlpools with ocean views, and a 643-foot promenade, as well as The Venom Drop, an 11-deck tall helter skelter, and the tallest slide on any ship in the world at 75 metres.
Some of the player’s partners havebeen in the capital Doho since late on Sunday night , arriving laden with multiple suitcases and dressed in designer gear. Amongst the group were goalkeeperJordan Pickford’s wife Megan Davisonand defenderKyle Walker’s wife Annie Kilner.
It has been reported that the families were given alist of 'dos and don'ts'ahead of their arrival. According to The Sun, the FA held a secret briefing last month. The FA said: "It is important to understand that you and your husband or partner are not above the law here.
"Every order is in place to protect both yourselves and your partner or husband in any case of indiscretion. Fines and prosecution are commonplace."
Gareth Southgate also warned the families that players may be asked not to see their loved ones during the tournament due to covid fears.
He said: "There is that decision about how much risk do you want to take? If you lose a player or two players, for them that may be their only opportunity to play at the World Cup.
"I’m sure their families will realise that as well. It is a decision that we're talking with the senior players about, and they’re realising how complicated that is."
