Jane Fonda revealed that Jennifer Lopez has not said sorry for allegedly cutting her while filming a “slapping scene” in “Monster-in-Law.”
“Well Jennifer — as per Jennifer — she had this enormous diamond ring and so when she slapped me one of the times, it cut open across my eye, my eyebrow,” the 85-year-old actress said on “The Drew Barrymore Show” Friday.
“You know, she’s never apologized,” she then quipped as the audience members erupted into a sea of gasps and chatter.
Drew Barrymore and Fonda’s “Moving On” co-star Lily Tomlin, who were also onstage, did not comment on the alleged incident. It is unclear if Fonda was just kidding around.
A rep for Lopez did not immediately return Page Six’s request for comment on the story.
In the 2005 film, Fonda played an overbearing mother who was determined to break up the soon-to-be marriage between her son, played by Michael Vartan, and Charlotte a.k.a. “Charlie,” played by Lopez.
The hilarious scene in question took place during Charlie’s wedding day.
Fonda’s character, Viola, memorably wore white to upset the bride, which prompted Lopez’s character to retaliate by embarking on a slapping match.
However, in the film, Charlie does quickly apologize to her future mother-in-law.
“You don’t go and slap somebody and then apologize, get some backbone,” Viola says in response as the two share more blows in the scene.

Lopez herself has previously spoken about how daunting that particular scene was for her, stating she was “so afraid to hit Jane Fonda in the face or hurt her in any way.”
“‘I was so afraid of [Fonda] and she was so brave,” the “Let’s Get Loud” singer said in a video posted to her YouTube channel in 2019.
Lopez said that in an effort to encourage her, Fonda told her at the time, “‘Just hit me. Don’t worry about it, it’s going to be fine.’”
The romantic comedy was Fonda’s return to the big screen after taking a 15-year break from acting.
In a 2015 appearance on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” the longtime actress shared she thought she could find “joy” in acting again and so she returned with “Monster-in-Law,” which was the “only smart career thing I ever did.”
