Kate Middleton has been in the spotlight for well over a decade now. The Duchess married Prince William back in 2011, and since then, the pair have kept a select group of friends close to them. And they all go way back.
From Kate’s old college friends to pals the couple share from their time at St. Andrews University, who exactly are the 40 year old’s BFFs and what do they do?
Lady Laura Meade
Formerly Laura Marsham, Kate became friends with Lady Laura Meade through her husband, Prince William. She is the daughter of Julian Marsham, 8th Earl of Romney, and her husband is an Eton pal of William’s.
Both men played major parts in each other’s weddings – James giving a speech at the royal nuptials, and William being an usher on his friend’s big day.
Both couples have kids, and while Laura is godparent to Prince Louis, James holds the same role for Princess Charlotte.
James Meade
James is the son of Richard Meade, Britain’s most successful equestrian at the Olympics. He went to Eton College with William back in 2000, and now lives in Norfolk with his wife Laura, not far from Anmer Hall, Kate and William’s country home.
Along with Thomas van Straubenzee, James delivered some of the best man’s speech at the 2011 royal wedding.
Sophie Carter
Sophie is one of Kate’s closest friends, and is also godmother to Princess Charlotte.
While she once dated one of William’s best friends from school, Thomas van Straubenzee, she is now married to Robert Snuggs.
Both Sophie and Kate’s families regularly hang out together, from going on a skiing trip back in 2016 to Wimbledon matches to attending royal events, including the Christmas church services in Sandringham.
Sophie was even a guest at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding, plus Kate’s sister, Pippa Middleton’s big day.
For her own wedding back in 2018, Sophie had Princess Charlotte as a bridesmaid and Prince George as a pageboy.
Trini Foyle
Trini and Kate met at Marlborough school when they were 14, and both headed to university in Scotland (Trini went to Edinburgh while Kate opted for St. Andrews).
Taking an MA in politics while she was there, Trini went on to work in the office of Jeremy Hunt, a Conservative MP.
She is married to Ted Foyle, and has a son called Alexander, who is a similar age to Kate and William’s eldest, Prince George. It’s been reported that the two mums have had playdates in the past with their children in Kensington Palace Gardens.
Hannah Carter
Hannah is another Marlborough College friend of Kate’s, and she’s one of Prince Louis’ godmothers.
Both the Duke and Duchess attended Hannah’s wedding to wealthy Norfolk landowner, Robert Carter back in 2021, despite it being on the same day as the royal couple’s first wedding anniversary.
Emilia Jardine-Paterson
Another Marlborough College pal, Emilia and Kate have been close since they were teens. When Kate and William briefly split in 2007, Emilia arranged a girls holiday to Ibiza.
Also a mum of three, Emilia is a godmother to Prince George. She also runs her own interior design company, and it’s even been reported that she helped Kate redecorate Anmer Hall and Kensington Palace.
Emilia’s husband David was also a pupil at Eton College with William.
Zoe Warren
Zoe is married to Darren Warren, a close friend of Prince William and Prince Harry. Her husband was one of Princess Diana’s godchildren, and his father was Queen Elizabeth II racing manager. King Charles III has now inherited the late Queen’s racing operation.
The couple’s daughter, Zalia, was a bridesmaid at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding, and she is also one of Harry’s goddaughters.
Due to the families’ mutual racing interest, the Warrens and the Cambridges are often spotted together at Ascot.
Rose Hanbury
Rose is married to David Cholmondeley, the 7th Marquess of Cholmondeley and Lord Great Chamberlain. They reside at Palladian Houghton Hall and are Norfolk neighbours to Kate and Will, as it’s not far from their country home, Anmer Hall.
Alicia Fox-Pitt
Alicia is also a Marlborough school girl, having attended the prestigious college with the royal back in the day. She’s the younger sister of William Fox-Pitt, equestrian Olympian, and is a former rowing buddy of the Duchess.
Back in their school days, they were part of the Sisterhood rowing team, with Alicia saying at the time how Kate was a “gifted sportswoman.”
Oliver Parker
St. Andrews university pal, Oliver is a close friend of both the Prince and Princess of Wales. He is also a godparent to Prince George.
