Looking for an inexpensive, A-list-approved swimsuit update this summer? Simply switch up your bikini straps, à la Kendall Jenner.

The 818 Tequila founder, 26, has long been a fan of celebrity-loved label Sommer Swim; in 2020, she even described her relationship to the brand’s convertible two-pieces as “a love story.”

And on Tuesday, Jenner posted a few Instagram photos to promote her edit for retailer Fwrd, clad in Sommer Swim’s buttery yellow “Xena” top ($89) and “Naomi” tie-side bottom ($79).

The brunette beauty crisscrossed the straps of her suit, styling it with a cropped Miaou cardigan ($95) and black Bottega Veneta shoulder bag ($2,500).

The Fwrd creative director’s string bikini top — which fits right in with the floss-like fashions heating up beach season — can also be styled as a bandeau or a classic halter.

Sister Kylie Jenner commented with a heart eyes emoji, while makeup artist Sam Visser wrote, “It’s getting hot in here.” TikTok star and Kardashian pal Olivia Pierson raved, “You are perfection.”

Some fans were confused by Jenner’s swimwear/sweater combo, with one writing, “Because we all definitely need a sweater and a purse with our bathing suit 😉 but ok.”

The “upside-down” bikini look has been making waves for a few years, with Kourtney Kardashian and Hailey Bieber among the other stars who’ve tried it out. The twisty trend is also big on TikTok, where users show off the myriad ways they’ve spiced up their strappy suits.

Inventive styling’s all well and good, but we’re still not sure about poolside sweater sets.
