Lady Gaga has basically built her entire personal brand on doing whatever she wants—whether it’s arriving at the Grammys in a giant egg or wearing a dress made out of meat (who could forget).
So it’s hardly shocking that she recently posted three artful nude pictures of herself on Instagram, out of the blue. Still, fans understandably freaked the heck out.
In one photo, Gaga can be seen slipping into pantyhose while completely naked (her boobs are blurred).

In another, she’s wearing white hose and staring at the camera, with some kind of flesh-colored strapless, backless bra covering her boobs.

In the final shot, she’s pulled sheer hose nearly up to her hips while looking off to the side. Again, her boobs are blurred.

Like, damn, Mother Monster.
Fans loved the photos in the comments. “Loving the skin you’re in,” one wrote. “Slay mama,” another said. “ICONIC,” another fan wrote.
Gaga doesn’t offer up an explanation for the pics—she simply credits the photographer, Eli Russell Linnetz, who also shared them on his page. Eli’s photography is an interesting mix of naked women, gerbils in tulips, Shawn Mendes, and Kim Kardashian.

He also photographed Gaga for a series of (clothed) pics she also shared with fans earlier in August on Instagram, including some where her body parts are distorted.

Some people have speculated that the new pics are related to her potential role on the newest season of American Horror Story or her upcoming Las Vegas residency, Enigma.
Knowing Gaga, they’re probably just ‘cause.
