Major change to common Covid symptoms you need to know – the full list of 20 revealed | The Sun

A ONCE common Covid symptom has been removed from the symptom list, as cases of the virus continue to climb.

Earlier this month, Covid appeared to be presenting like flu in many people it infected.

But now, fewer people are experiencing a fever with Covid than ever before, the ZOE Symptom Tracker app has revealed.

Professor Tim Spector, of ZOE, said: "It really is a complete waste of everyone's time to be screening workplaces and care homes… for fever at the moment."

Earlier this month, 43 per cent of all people who had Covid reported having a a fever.

This comes as scientists warned of a so-called 'swarm' of Omicron strains that could threaten this winter.

Currently, Omicron is the main strain circulating, which has been proven to be milder than others that came before it.

However, specialists have now said that there could be a collection of three substrains that all circulate together.

According to the tracker, around one in 21 people in the UK have the bug – with numbers now also falling in the youngest age groups.

Experts at ZOE revealed there are currently an estimated 209,243 infections, down from 235,829 last week.

The decrease in cases, the medics say, indicates the current wave has peaked.

This drop in infections suggests that people are mixing less than expected, Prof Spector explained.

"We're at 80 to 85 per cent of our contact rates compared to pre-pandemic," he added.

"Many people are just not getting out and mixing as much as they were before."
