Although autumn footwear often means chunky boots and oversized trainers, there’s one slightly more delicate shoe trend taking off right now; the ballet flats.
Balletcore has been turning into one of fashion’s current must-have styles, and the dainty ballerina-inspired shoes are quickly becoming a wardrobe staple for days where you want something more feminine than a loafer and less heavy duty than a boot.
Easily identifiable by their rounded toe and soft, flexible material, you can typically get them in leather (or faux leather) or satin, and they usually have either a bow on the front, or elasticated straps across the arches.

No matter how chic and feminine they are though, we’re not about to drop £700 on some footwear, especially as the rainy season is heading our way and limiting the time we can wear them.
However, fashion fans will be thrilled that high street favourite Mango has just released its very own version, and the price tag is considerably more affordable.
The Elastic Satin Ballerinas, £35.99 here, have all the same styling details as Miu Miu’s, but without the premium price tag.
Just like the luxury pair, Mango’s affordable ballerina flats have a satin upper with leather sole for durability, and have a similar rounded toe style complete with decorative bow on the front.
They also come with the signature black elastic strap that supports the arch and keeps your ballet flats in place, and have a removable footbed to help keep them comfortable and fresh.
