According to Yahoo!’s Eat This, Not That blog, another former fast food giant employee claimed McDonald’s does indeed use that much sugar.

Nicole Weiser told the outlet: ‘I was a manager at a McDonald’s. I worked there for about three years.

‘For every four gallons of [the container of] sweet tea, there was a full four-pound bag of sugar emptied into it.’

According to the McDonald’s website, a large iced sweet tea contains 40 grams of sugars.

However, according to the employees there is even more sugar than stated.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recommends consuming 50 grams per day on a 2,000-calorie diet.

If you follow the nutritional info on the McDonald’s website, a large has just 10 grams less than the total amount of recommended sugars.
