Megyn Kelly is one of the most famous US reporters and television hosts, with over 12 years of experience on Fox News, a confrontational interview with Vladimir Putin on NBC news, and a public feud with former president Donald Trump. Here is a detailed look into the media personality’s estimated net worth and how much she has made as a journalist.

For over a decade, Megyn Kelly was one of the most famous faces of Fox News but said she made the “tough decision” to leave the network for NBC in 2017.

According to CNN, she made around $20 million a year at FOX News, and at the time, the journalist said she felt a “human connection” to her viewers on her last show on the news network,

She also said that she also treasured that human connection “particularly when it comes to my children, who are seven, five and three”, which seemed to indicate the scheduling to focus on her family may have been a factor in her decision to leave.

According to Forbes, Megyn Kelly’s salary at NBC was around $18 million a year, but because she does not do many side projects compared to other media personalities, she was not one of the highest-paid television hosts at the time despite her fame.

Other reports say estimated that she made between $15 million and $20 million annually at NBC, but her exact salary is unknown.

In October 2018, Megyn Kelly was heavily criticised for comments she made during the show Megyn Kelly Today in which she spoke about the use of blackface relating to Halloween costumes. She said: “when I was a kid, that was okay as long as you were dressing up like a character”.

The reporter’s commentary received massive backlash, and NBC cancelled the Megyn Kelly Show and her employment contract was terminated in January 2019. According to CNN, Megyn Kelly was halfway through her three-year contract worth $69 million and is believed to have been paid the remaining money estimated to be around $30 million.

In September 2020, the journalist announced she the launch her own media production called Devil May Care Media, and currently produced her own podcast, called the Megyn Kelly Show.

Outside of news media, Megyn Kelly has also written an autobiography called ‘Settle For More; that was published in 2016, which goes into detail about her career and interactions with world leaders, including former president Donald Trump. According to Deadline, the book deal with worth other $10 million but sources at Page Six reported it was “in the $3 million to $4 million range.

CNN reported it was closer to “the neighborhood of $ 5 million.”

It is not known what Megyn Kelly’s official net worth is, but it is estimated to be around $45 million according to the International Business Times

The famous reporter is still continuing to produce a show through a podcast, and also is a guest on multiple news networks. Most recently, she was on Sky News this week speaking about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s choice to allow their children to use their royal titles.

She told Sky News host Paul Murray that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex choice to use their children’s royal titles is to “pay the bills.”

Megyn Kelly said: “Their only currency is those titles, Their approval ratings are through the floor, they went down even lower in America and in the UK, over the past couple of months.”
