The mothers explained that they aimed to share their errors so others can ‘learn a little bit from us’.
Up first was Erin, who referred to her issue as a ‘doozy’. Her advice was to ‘make sure you don’t do too much for your kids.’
She explained: ‘I think because I was a latch kid and I had a hard working mom, I always kind of did everything myself.
‘I was pretty self-sufficient. I could sort of cook something; I could sort of figure stuff out.’
But Erin explained that because she was able to work from home when her children were little, she took a different approach.
She said: ‘I’ve kind of always done most everything for them, and therefore, I think they’re not very self-sufficient maybe. I think I probably did too much as far as like cooking or laundry.
‘My mom would say, “Brown some taco meat before I get home”. I think if I told my son to brown some taco meat, he’d be like, “What are you taking about?”.’
Terryl explained her advice next, which was to try to stay patient when your kids are younger.

She explained that she felt as though she lost her patience a little too often when her children were young.
Terryl recalled a memory of her daughter being anxious for school pictures in first grade, but she just lost all patience and told her to get in the car.
But now she believes that acting like that makes everything ‘worse’ and ’causes a lot of stress and frustration for everyone’.
Sarah wanted to share some guidance for the parents who have more ‘reserved’ and ‘anxious’ children.
She explained that her eldest child is shy, and often she would find herself jumping in during conversations to speak for her.
Now, Sarah realized that this is not serving either of them, and so her advice was to let shy kids speak for themselves.
Lastly, Jenn shared her piece of guidance, which was not to stretch out rituals too long with your children because of your own emotions.
Social media users were quick to share their thoughts on the video, and many branded it an inspiration
She explained that she was determined to make the most of her time with her daughter, knowing she wasn’t gong to have more children.
Each night she would read a book to her daughter and lay next to her in bed, but her daughter is dependent on her to be able to fall asleep.
Jenn mentioned that in the first instance, this formed an emotional connection, but now that a ritual has been created, she is unable to do anything else when it comes to 9 o’clock.
The mothers further explained their intentions for the video in the caption: ‘We’ve made mistakes, and done some things right! We will share! #parentingmistakes #momadvice #adviceforgirls #adviceformoms #4friendsover40 #forallgirls #forourdaughters #genxmoms’
