Neighbours called the police because I was having 'noisy' sex with my girlfriend

DEAR DEIDRE:  THE neighbours in the flat below called the police because I was having “noisy” sex with my girlfriend.

They are middle-aged and ignore us when my girlfriend and I try to make eye contact with them. I’m a guy of 28 and my girlfriend is 26.

Our flat is tiny. My girlfriend and I are both working from home, so she has gone back to her mum’s place and works from there.

She came round for the occasional date night during lockdown but this particular night was actually after the rules were relaxed.

We’d had a few drinks outside the pub, had a few more at the flat and went to bed. We don’t think we were being noisy but the police turned up saying there had been a noise complaint.

I know which neighbours it was, as we could hear them moving around when the police showed up. I feel really uncomfortable now.

DEIDRE SAYS: Your neighbours might have been stewing about your girlfriend coming round during lockdown.

Try to soundproof your bedroom – thick carpet and curtains could help.

Send flowers with a note saying you are sorry.
