It’s officially Christmas – get Mariah Carey on, put the tinsel up, because Starbucks’ red cups are back and surely this means the festive season is in full swing.
Strong winds, cold temperatures and bad weather can be made all the better with the sip of an egg nog latte and much more, courtesy of the new menu.
The drinks, available from today until 3 January, signal the start of Christmas, and the reusable #RedCups, £1.50, will be available in their bucketloads. And you’d be a scrooge not to pick one up…
This year, the coffee giants that are Starbucks are doing what they do best and getting creative with their hot drink offerings.
On the festive menu you’ll find gingerbread, toffee nut and egg nog lattes, with prices starting from £3.15.
The iconic drinks are also available in iced versions too, in case you need to take the heat off the business of Christmas planning.
If coffee isn’t your bag then you can opt for a toasted marshmallow hot chocolate instead, with prices starting from £3.10. This drink includes delicious mocha sauce, combined with marshmallow syrup, topped with marshmallow flavoured whipped cream and finished with a caramelised sugar topping.
As well as staple drink favourites, the Starbucks food will follow suit, with a great range launching that includes ‘Tis the Season Turkey Sandwich, Festive Feast Panini, or plump for the Mince Pie, Christmas Tree Brownie, Twinkle and Sprinkle Caramel Cupcake or a sumptuous slice of the Christmas Bauble Chocolate Loaf Cake. Wow – now we’re hungry.
And, making sure there’s food readily available for vegans and vegetarians too, there’ll be a Vegetarian Brie and Cran-merry Focaccia and a Very Merry Vegan Wrap with crumbled butternut squash fritters and roasted red cabbage, a vegan maple mustard mayonnaise in a beetroot wrap.
Starbucks fans have been quick to share their excitement too, with one tweeting: “Christmas is coming to town, starting from Starbucks.”
Another wrote: “You can judge me all you want but the Starbucks holiday drink menu and Christmas themed cups are both an essential part to the Christmas season!”
Whilst another said: “Starbucks is starting to come out with their Christmas drinks/cups and I couldn’t be anymore excited!!”
But not everyone was happy with the new Starbucks cups, and took to Twitter to share their distaste.
“They should just sell a reusable version of the #RedCups with a different design each year. They'd become collector items and stop waste,” one said.

In its report Social Global Impact Report 2018, Starbucks talks about how it is a leader in sustainability.
The report states: "We now source 99 percent of our coffee [through our ethical coffee sourcing program], promoting quality, economic transparency and social and environmental impact with a vision to make coffee the world's first sustainable agricultural product in the world."
On the first day of Christmas my true love game to me, a festive Starbucks coffee!
