Tesco Easter 2019 opening times – bank holiday Monday supermarket opening hours

EASTER is just around the corner which for many of us will mean a big family gathering.

If you're planning on cooking up a feast, make sure you're up to date with your local Tesco's opening times.

When is Tesco open over Easter?

Opening hours may vary from store to store so Tesco is advising customers to visit their Store locator online to check their local supermarket’s opening times over the Easter period.

Usually, it all depends on where you live and the size of your local stores

Tesco stores across the UK are generally open on Good Friday and the following Saturday.

On Easter Sunday, which falls on Sunday April 21 this year, all Tesco superstores and Metro stores are shut in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

All Tesco Express stores are open as usual. Stores are also operate normal hours in Scotland.

On Easter Monday opening hours may again vary depending on the location of the store.

In previous years, Extras, Superstores and Metro stores were open from 09am to 6pm in England and Wales.

In Northern Ireland opening hours were slightly different – 10am to 7pm

All Express stores across the UK and Stores in Sctoland were open as usual.

How can I find the opening hours for my local Tesco store?

Closing times can vary from store to store, so it's always important to check your local branch.

You can do this using the store finder on their website.

When are the Easter holidays 2019?

This year Good Friday falls on Friday, April 19 and Easter Monday is on April 22.

The celebration for most adults has been a four-day weekend as Good Friday and Easter Monday are also bank holidays.

Schools usually get around two weeks off for the Easter break.

Because Easter is late this year, in most areas kids will be off for the two weeks before.

That means they break up on Friday, April 5, and go back on Easter Tuesday, April 23 – which is also St George's Day in England.

With the weekends and the bank holiday, that stretches to 17 days.

Other schools might take the two weeks either side of Easter so the two bank holidays fall within the Easter holidays.

Dates vary in different areas so you should check your school or council's website.
