TESCO has been spotted stacking its shelves with a festive favourite – MONTHS before Christmas.

Shoppers have been left baffled by the addition of traditional tubs of chocs in the middle of summer.

One savvy shopper shared a photo on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook Group, after seeing stacks of Heroes, Celebrations and Quality Street chocolates for sale.

"Christmas is coming" they said, prompting others to wonder why the sweet treats have been put on offer so early.

One commented: "Really, it's August. Bad enough when the shops start playing Christmas songs in October…but Christmas stock out in August…"

Another said: "Too hot at the moment for me to buy. I have nowhere cool to store them!"

While one person said: "If we bought that now it wouldn't make it to the end of the week. Much less to Christmas."

Customers can pick up two of any box for £7 if they have a Clubcard, or £4 each if they don't have the loyalty card.

The stack of sweet tubs were spotted at Tesco in Broadstairs, Kent and we've asked Tesco if they are on sale in all stores, and will update when we hear back.

The Cadbury Heroes and Celebrations boxes are both available to buy online though, although the Quality Street box isn't.

The Celebrations tub is 650g, the Quality Street is 650g and the Cadbury Heroes are 600g.

Celebrations are filled with Snickers, Twix, Mars, Bounty, Milky Way, Galaxy Milk, Galaxy Caramel and Maltesers Teasers.

While Quality Street is packed with a selection of 12 different chocolates, including one filled with orange crème, a toffee finger, and one with fudge wrapped in milk chocolate.

Heroes contain all Cadbury's chocolates – Dairy Milk, Dairy Milk Caramel, Eclairs, Fudge, Twirl, Creme Egg Twisted, Crunchie Bits, Dinky Decker and Wispa.

Last year Tesco was selling the tubs of Heroes and Quality Streets for the same price – two for £7 – but this was available to all shoppers, not just those with Clubcard.

The Clubcard is a loyalty card like Sainsbury's' Nectar Card.

You get exclusive prices on certain products and also build up loyalty points which can be redeemed as money off your shopping.

You can use your points to buy food or fuel through vouchers, but you can also redeem the vouchers through a number of Tesco's partners, including Pizza Express.

The vouchers are collected when you scan your membership card at the till at Tesco.

For every £1 you spend in-store or online you receive one point, or one point for every £2 you spend on fuel.

If you get to 150 points, you'll receive a £1.50 voucher which can then be redeemed in-store or online.

You can sign up for a Clubcard online.

You can currently buy a 650g box of Celebrations online at Asda for £4.

That's the same price for a single tub from Tesco, but 50p more than if you buy two tubs with a Clubcard.

Morrison's doesn't currently have the 650g box of Celebrations for sale online.

Neither is it selling the 650g size Quality Street size, although its 220g pack will set you back £3, considerably more expensive than the Tesco offer.

Sainsbury's is only offering a 290g box of Cadbury Heroes online for £4.

And its 240g box of Celebrations is £3, so more expensive than the current Tesco option, even if you don't have a Clubcard.
