She began her career with the highest-grossing independent film of 1978, Halloween, officially becoming the ‘scream queen’ of Hollywood.
Jamie Lee Curtis became famous for her role in numerous horror films as well as other Halloween films in the series, however, her versatile talent later allowed Curtis to star in comedy’s, from A Fish Called Wanda to Freaky Friday with similar enthusiasm from fans across the globe.
The so called ‘scream queen’ just earned her first Oscar for her role in the sci-fi film Everything Everywhere At Once and fans can’t wait to see what she does next.

Stars like Josh Hartnett and Michelle Williams join the veteran horror film queen as she battles the Shape one last time to save the life of her son. The 1998 film is the return of Curtis to the Halloween franchise and fans were thrilled to see her back.

Mel Gibson stars in the 1992 romance as a young pilot frozen in a cryogenics test in 1939 only to awaken in 1992. He meets Claire Cooper (Curtis) but as the two love birds are just getting started they learn time is running out quickly as Gibson’s character begins to age rapidly. The film also stars a young Elijah Wood in one of his first films in the industry.

Curtis reunited with Aykroyd on yet another hit film about a young girl on the threshold of her teen years, dealing with the feelings of betrayal, fluctuating self-esteem, loss and love. Curtis plays the difficult role of Aykroyd’s girlfriend and all that comes with a young girl dealing with the loss of her mother. It was one of the successful films that shot young stars Anna Chlumsky and Macaulay Culkin to the top of their game.

7 A Fish Called Wanda – $63 Million

It didn’t have a huge box office response, however, the story of four very different people joining together on a jewel heist certainly showcased Curtis’ comedic abilities. The four take turns trying to double-cross each other for the prize and what began as a mediocre film has resulted in a cult classic among young audiences. Her character Wanda, plays alongside John Cleese, Kevin Kline and others.

Based off of the John Grisham novel, “Skipping Christmas”, Curtis stars with funny-man Tim Allen as a couple who decides to ignore the festivities and traditions of Christmas when their daughter is away for the holidays. Hollywood icon Dan Aykroyd joins the cast as a nosy and somewhat bossy character and comedy ensues when the couple have to throw together a Christmas celebration at the last minute. Of course, the audience loves the reminder of neighborly love, forgiveness and gathering together.
5 Trading Places – $90 Million

Just after starring in her debut film in 1983, Curtis landed a role in John Landis’ comedy Trading Places with Aykroyd and Eddie Murphy. She plays a savvy sex worker who becomes an ally to Aykroyd’s character, even allowing him to stay in her apartment and caring for him after he catches a fever. According to Looper, Curtis can see how the early 80’s film added aspects that would now be considered inappropriate or offensive but is grateful for the role and the confidence Landis and others saw in her so early in her career.

In the 2021 final installment of the Halloween franchise, Curtis returns among surviving victims of Michael Myers to form a team of vigilante’s ready to take down the enemy once and for all. Fans of the hit film series watched as Curtis, Judy Greer and Andi Matichak fight till the end to complete the chapter of horror. While the final film was not the highest-grossing film, it showed there will always be fans of the ‘scream queen’ era.
3 True Lies – $146 Million

In the 1994 comedy and action flick, Curtis stars in a role that might have surprised fans. Opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger, she plays the unsuspecting wife of a secret agent whose life is turned upside down when she accidently gets involved in his current mission. While Schwarzenegger always bring the high-action thriller, it was likely Curtis’ character that caused audiences to keep watching as she went from a meek and mild mannered housewife to an undercover agent alongside her husband.

For those of you keeping track, the 2018 Halloween installment was the most lucrative at the box office. Curtis returns as fan favorite Laurie Strode to confront her long-time enemy Michael Myers whom she’s been haunted by for nearly four decades. According to Celebrity Net Worth, Curtis’ return to the franchise resulted in the highest-earning for any film with a lead actress over 55 years of age. The star is currently 64.

In the first installment of the Knives Out series, a detective, played by Daniel Craig investigates the death of a father in an eccentric family. According to IMDB, Curtis plays Linda Drysdale, the rich and indifferent daughter alongside a star-studded cast including Chris Evans, Don Johnson, Toni Collette and Christopher Plummer. Director Rian Johnson recently dropped his second film Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery on Netflix, featuring another stellar cast of A-list talent.
