The best X Factor transformations – including Honey G, Diana Vickers and Tesco Mary

Reality TV classic The X Factor ran for a staggering 15 series as devoted fans were glued to their screens every Saturday night to watch aspiring popstars sing their hearts out.

It produced some massive superstars including Harry Styles, Leona Lewis and Alexandra Burke who all went on to launch successful careers in the public eye, and cemented Simon Cowell as one of the biggest names in the music industry.

Thousands of wannabe singers would line up for their shot year after year, but some made more of an impression than others.

Five years after the final series, here’s a look back at some of the contestant’s biggest transformations…

Honey G

Honey G shot to fame on the show in 2016 when she made it all the way to the quarter finals in the over-25s category – but is barely recognisable today.

The star confessed that she used to have fans approaching her on the street but, after her body transformation, nobody recognises her anymore.

The former contestant has lost a staggering two stone in weight since her stint on the show and recently revealed that she now has her sights set on getting a six pack.

“How do I sign up for this?” Honey G joked in a recent interview as she heard about a challenge that claims to get you rock hard abs in just weeks.

Diana Vickers

Diana Vickers made it to the semi-finals in the 2008 edition of the X Factor – when she was just 18 years old.

She later went on to release hit songs including The Boy Who Murdered Love and Once and then became a West End performer.

She’s now 31 years old and has ditched her famous messy hair for a more slick look and is now rocking lengthy straight blonde hair with an ultra chic fringe.

Diana has also left behind her famous messy black eyeliner and is now rocking a more natural makeup look.

Tesco Mary

Tesco Mary – aka Mary Byrne – appeared on the show alongside future boy band superstars One Direction in 2010 and finished in fifth place.

She’s since gone on to completely change her look.

When she was on the show, Mary weighed 21 stone but has shedded five in the years since after crediting her “strict” daughter for her impressive weightloss.

“She won’t let me do the shopping because she knows I buy rubbish, which I will,” Mary confessed in 2021, before admitting that the regime “had worked.”

Chloe Mafia

Chloe Mafia now goes by Chloe Khan as she has left her X Factor days well behind her.

Chloe, who immediately became recognisable because of her heavy fake tan and makeup, made it to the Boot Camp stage of the show before being kicked off after pulling an all nighter and turning up to the audition “smelling of vodka.”

It might have all been for the best, however, as Chloe has gone on to have a successful modelling career and now boasts more than two million followers on Instagram.

She’s changed her look completely, too, as she’s ditched the messy extensions and admitted to spending a million pounds on a boob job, bum implants and even a designer vagina.

Christopher Maloney

Christopher Maloney appeared on the show back in 2012 and enjoyed a career in showbusiness afterwards, including a stint in the Celebrity Big Brother house.

Despite being an iconic star of the show, he’s now difficult to recognise after spending hundreds of thousands on cosmetic surgeries.

In 2015, he confessed that he had spent £70k on cosmetic surgery and, three years later, spent an additional 100k on surgeries including a sixth nose job and a second eye lift.
