Today is World Mental Health Day 2022, when the issue of mental health is given a global platform – inviting people to show their support on social media platforms as well as by wearing a green ribbon badge to raise awareness of the campaign.
While physical health is important, mental health is something that requires its own care, attention and responsibility too.
The awareness around mental health has grown over the years, with more and more companies, people and professionals focusing on ways to nurture, improve and measure mental health, especially in an increasingly busy, ‘always-on’ lifestyle.
As the new Prince of Wales, Prince William has highlighted mental health as one of his top priorities, with he and Kate Middleton getting involved in past initiatives.

World Mental Health Day theme for 2022
Each year, World Mental Health Day focuses on a particular theme. This year, as set by the World Federation for Mental Health, is ‘Make mental health and wellbeing for all a global priority.’
For over 70 years, the World Federation has been working to make sure that mental health is treated on a par with physical health.
Mental health problems – ranging from depression to loneliness – exist in our lives, families, workplaces and communities, impacting everyone.
For this year’s theme, we are being encouraged to think about how we can do as much as possible to prevent mental ill-health – as individuals and as a society, from calling on national and local governments to prioritise reducing known risk factors to creating the conditions needed for people to thrive.
