A south coast city in England has beaten even the capital when it comes to the number of pubs it contains.
Portsmouth, birthplace of Charles Dickens and home of the Royal Navy, has claimed the top spot on a list compiled by Liberty Games.
It’s got a whopping 12 pubs per square mile – almost double that of London – which means it’s got everywhere else beat.
Coming in second place was Liverpool with 11 pubs per square mile, then Bristol in third with 10.
For anyone thinking of visiting, the Tripadvisor rankings have it that the best pub in Portsmouth is the Brewhouse and Kitchen.
Make sure to pay a trip to the Historic Dockyard and take in both HMS Victory and the Mary Rose Museum while you’re there, as well as the Emirates Spinnaker Tower.
As for food, give the seafood at Loch Fyne inside Gunwharf Quays and Southsea’s Pie and Vinyl a look in.
When it comes to travelling out of the big smoke, you can get the train from London Waterloo to Portsmouth which takes just under two hours.
If you’d rather drive, it takes on average around one hour and 40 minutes.
