An enormous crowd of young fans swarmed the street outside the Channel Nine offices in Sydney on Monday morning, with some camping out overnight Sunday, hoping to get a look at international YouTubers Logan Paul and KSI.
Visiting Australia to promote their new line of energy and sports drinks, Prime, the pair appeared on Today with Karl Stefanovic and addressed the crowd from a balcony live on air.
KSI, a 29-year-old English rapper, boxer and social media star, led the crowd in a chant of “Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi Oi Oi”. Speaking to Stefanovic, Paul said, “this is a surreal moment”. But it’s not entirely unexpected either.
The hype for the YouTubers’ Australian tour has been so profound that a major promotional event at a shopping centre in Perth last week had to be cancelled due to safety concerns.
A spokesperson for Woolworths, which will stock the new drink, said the supermarket had received advice from WA Police, security providers, and the City of Swan that it could simply not ensure public safety given the number of people expected to attend.
