Tyga didn’t hesitate to drop tens of thousands of dollars on some serious bling for Avril Lavigne, which has only fuelled speculation that the pair are romantically involved. According to TMZ, New York-based jeweler Eric Mavani confirmed that Tyga purchased the diamond chain from him to gift to Avril.

The custom piece spells the singer’s first name in a series of diamonds, while two pink “As” adorn the sides of the necklace. Two skulls with cross bones and pink bows sit higher on the necklace. In total, it features 50 carats of white and black diamonds and pink sapphires.

The jeweler added that Tyga spent approximately $80,000 on the price. He requested the custom piece three weeks ago, before Paris Fashion Week. Tyga and Avril were first spotted getting cozy in Paris at that time.

Avril has always received the diamond chain – she’s posted multiple photos to social media featuring the piece and was also photographed out and about in Los Angeles.

Tyga and Avril’s relationship has been a source of much speculation, especially given the timing – Avril ended her engagement to Mod Sun in February after two years together.

At the time, a source told PEOPLE Avril and Mod Sun broke up after a series of difficulties. “[They] have been on and off for the past two months but are no longer together as a couple.”

However, rumors suggest Mod Sun was blindsided by the break-up, and some fans question if Avril’s romance with Tyga played a part or if it started after the split.

When they first started hanging out publicly, sources said Tyga and Avril were only friends. “[Tyga and Avril are] genuinely friends and nothing more,” a source told PEOPLE, adding, “There was no third party involved in the split.”

Earlier this month, TMZ went reported that Avril and Tyga’s relationship was very much real and not a publicity stunt. However, it claimed the pair aren’t putting a label on their romance.

“Sources close to the couple tell TMZ … Avril and Tyga are still in the early stages of figuring one another out, but they’re not putting any labels — ala girlfriend/boyfriend — on anything just yet,” the publication explained.

But with Tyga’s recent elaborate (and expensive) gift, it could be a sign that he and Avril’s relationship is becoming more serious.
