When is Black Friday 2023?
The annual Black Friday retail event this year takes place on Friday 24 November – the day after Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving is always the fourth Thursday of the month, with Black Friday the fourth Friday.
The significance of the date is that Black Friday is a sale that originated in the States several decades ago, before growing in popularity here in the UK in the past few years.
Is Virgin taking part in Black Friday this year?
Yes, Virgin Media is definitely taking part in the sale this year.
The retailer will be offering tons of great Black Friday discounts.
Those include broadband deals, TV deals, phone deals and package deals.

It's a fantastic time to buy a new phone, TV or broadband deal with Virgin Media, or to make an upgrade, as you'll save a sizeable amount on a long-lasting product.
You can also treat yourself or your family to fun bonuses like extra TV channels or super-fast broadband.
The latter could be incredibly helpful if you work from home too.
However, we don't yet know all the details of what those 2023 discounts will be – but we'll find out soon.

Has Virgin Media merged with O2?
Yes, it has.
In June 2021, Virgin Media and O2 joined forces to create one of the UK's largest telecoms providers.
In January 2023, Virgin Media announced that its customers would be moving to O2 phone plans by the end of the year.
The new merger means you can find the fastest widely available broadband in the same place as O2's great mobile services.
If you're already a Virgin Media customer, you'll stay contracted to the company, but O2 will now provide your services.
So, you can enjoy the reliable WiFi and broadband speed boosts from Virgin Media AND special perks via Priority with O2, offers from the latter like tickets to gigs, and you can choose an Extra on selected O2 Pay Monthly contracts.
If you're new to both O2 and Virgin Media, it's well worth having a look at their new combined Volt contracts.

However, we all know that airline tickets can be pricy, especially if you're travelling to a far-flung destination, so any kind of sale discount is hugely welcome.
